Start with a music distributor
To release a song on Spotify from India, submit your recording through a music distributor or label. Spotify for Artists helps you manage your artist presence after delivery; it is not the upload route for your audio release.
At KME Network, start by applying for distribution access. Independent artists, record labels, multi-label businesses, distributors and music producers can apply. The team reviews applications before confirming access, the suitable plan and next steps.
Compare the cost and royalty terms
For an Indian artist or label, compare the full subscription term, GST, royalty share, label limits and included services together. A free application does not mean every distribution plan or service is free.
KME Network’s Professional plan costs ₹4,500 for three years, including GST, with an 80% revenue share and access for up to 10 labels. Basic is free for selected applicants, with a 75% revenue share and one label. Enterprise terms cover larger catalogues and business requirements.
Choose the plan around your catalogue and support needs. Confirm the applicable renewal terms and any additional services before purchasing.
Prepare the release files and information
Keep the final audio, cover artwork and release information together before submitting. Follow the current file requirements in your distribution account; check with the team if you need clarification before exporting.
- Listen to the final master and confirm the correct recording and track order.
- Check the release title, primary artist, featured artists and contributor credits.
- Prepare the artwork and confirm the permissions needed for your recording and cover.
- Check the language, explicit-content information and intended release date.
- Share your existing Spotify artist link, if you have one, along with any existing ISRC or UPC.
For a Hindi, Punjabi or other regional-language release, decide the intended spelling of artist and track names before submission. Keep those details consistent across your files, credits and application.
Submit for review before announcing a date
Once your KME account is approved, submit the release through your distribution account. Account approval, release review and availability on Spotify are separate stages. The team may request corrections before delivery.
Allow time for those corrections and platform processing when planning your launch. Ask about your intended date before committing to an announcement. Keep the release title and available identifiers with your support messages so the team can locate the submission.
Claim the correct Spotify artist profile
Spotify creates an artist profile when your music is first delivered. You do not need to create a separate artist profile before submitting your first recording.
After delivery, ask your distributor for your Spotify artist link. You can use it to request access through Spotify for Artists before the first release goes live. If you already have a profile, provide that link during submission and check that the release is assigned to the correct artist.
Leave time for an unreleased-song pitch
With the appropriate Spotify for Artists access, go to Music, then Upcoming, to pitch an eligible unreleased song to Spotify’s playlist editors. You can pitch one song at a time, and a song that is already live is no longer eligible for this pitch.
Spotify asks for delivery at least seven days before release to give editors time to listen. Submitting the pitch at least seven days before release also makes it eligible for your followers’ Release Radar. This window comes after delivery to Spotify; allow additional time for KME approval, review and corrections.
A pitch does not guarantee editorial playlist placement. Any KME pitching support depends on eligibility and your plan.
Check the release and understand payouts
On release day, open the song link and check the recording, artwork, title, credits and artist page before sharing it with listeners. If something needs correction, send KME the release link, identifiers and a clear description through the contact page.
For KME accounts, royalty payments are made monthly when the available royalty balance is above ₹3,000. Streaming activity and an available payout balance are different: royalties depend on platform reporting and payment. Your plan’s revenue share also applies.
